Raised as a "rakyat biasa" of Malaysia music education is something expensive and elusive for Wan.
Wait...long, long time ago when Wan was a very , very skinny primary student forever wiping a runny nose in a public school...there was a brief period of music lesson.
Angklung-lah.
I can't remember if my angklung rattled "do" or "re" or "mi" or "fa" or "so" because, before we could learn any song the angklung sessions were canceled and it was back to singing again for so-called music class zZZ.
I bet many skinny runny nose kids in Bandung have better luck with angklung than me. In Bandung, angklung is improved, produced, tuned, promoted, taught and played with passion. More correctly, angklung is Indonesia's national passion and regular educational activity by DECREE. I must say the Indonesians are darn practical to encourage their young people to have fun with a musical instrument made of native black bamboo.
Technically, angklung is considered the traditional Malaysia music--seen on-and-off in schools and "touristy" events. Personally since that short-lived "angklung class", Wan has not seen one for years. Imported pianos, organs and recorders shhh are unofficially popular. Hence, Wan feels embarrassed to mention Malaysia's intention to obtain a design patent for angklung which is obviously of Javanese origin.
