• Comot-momot = very, very dirty
• Compang-camping = torn, in rags ( for clothes )
• Karut-marut = so crappy cannot be trusted
• Kusut-masai = tangled/disorder/disheveled ( for hair/thoughts)
• Serbah-serbih = sloppy ( clothes )

Now, the challenge. Fill in the blanks with the correct kata ganda.

Before boarding the bus : neat hair and neat attire.

After alighting from a packed bus: ?kusut-masai hair,?serbah-serbih clothes and ?kusut-masai brain.

This motorbike gangster, his ?comot-momot hair is a favourite place for flies to hang around. His denim is ?compang-camping like a beggar not because he is short of money but it is cool fashion. When cornered by police, all his stories are ?karut-marut. His face is scarred. We don't use "parut-marut" for scarred. Marut goes with the word carutbarut which means profanities @#$%&*.
