"Botanical Flower Names" in Bahasa Malaysia
It's basically Malayization or direct loan of flower names from the English Language.
The yellow allamanda is called “cempaka hutan, the purple allamanda does not have a Malay name.
Heliconia is called “pisang-pisangan” in Bahasa Indonesia and there are Bahasa Malaysia reference books that call it mempisang. Due to the fact that mempisang is also the name of another plant, I categorize it here using its botanical name.
Bakung is actually a kind of wild lily that has quadrilateral petals. Also the botanical term for bakung is different from “lili” as displayed below.
