"Fun Facts" About Malaysia Street
A seemingly trivial but vital information about Malaysia a visitor should know...
This is a true story told to me by my mother, who owned a travel agency in the 1980s. I hear that this story has made its rounds, but I attest that she heard this first hand from the person involved.
A foreigner who stayed at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur in the mid 1980s requested the concierge call him a taxi.
Once in the taxi, he asked that the driver recommend him a tailor as he needed a business suit made within a week. The driver obliged and drove him to a tailor several minutes away.
The foreigner was measured for the suit and paid the full sum, after being assured the suit would be ready in 4 working days.Making a note of the location of the tailor shop, he took another taxi back to the hotel.Five days later, he hops into a taxi in front of his hotel and casually tells the driver he wants to pick up his suit at a tailor.
The driver asks, "On which road is the tailor?"
"Jalan Sehala," the foreigner replies.
Needless to say, he never got his suit.

Another story involves my auntie from Singapore who, after driving up to KL casually quips, "Wow! That's must be longest road in Malaysia. I saw it in Johor Bahru and its also in KL."
"What road?" my mother asks.
"Jalan Sehala."
